Congratulations to Greater Dayton Building & Remodeling!

Published on May 11, 2024

DAYTON, Ohio – The Miami Valley Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) is proud to announce Greater Dayton Building & Remodeling as a recipient for a National Contractor of the Year (CotY) Award in the Commercial Exterior category.

The “Yankee Station” project was an exterior renovation of a +/- 33,000 sqftretail center in Centerville, Ohio. At the time of construction, the building housed three tenants and had a storefront that was comprised of a variety of materials creating multiple, dissimilar architectural aesthetics. The exterior renovation project was completed in early 2018, after 6+ months of improvements had taken place. The three existing tenants remained opened during the entire project, and although several challenges arose during the production phase of work (weather, customer parking, unforeseen construction conditions, etc.), the project was completed on-time and on-budget. Upon completion of the renovation, the center also saw the addition of three new tenants, with more leases in the works, accomplishing the ownership’s goal of increasing desirability to future leasees.

“Receiving a national Contractor of the Year (CotY) award in the Commercial Exterior category is truly a testament to the diversity of our team’s skill set, and their dedication to producing first-class finished products,” John Popelar, Director of Special Programs for Greater Dayton Construction, said. “While it’s nice to be recognized by industry professionals for the work we produce, it’s also exciting to know the solutions we’re providing clients locally are on par with the highest quality projects from around the country.”

NARI encourages our contractor members across the nation to compete for the prestigious CotY Awards in recognition of their achievements throughout the year. CotY’s are awarded at the local, regional and national level. Greater Dayton Building & Remodeling received awards in both the local and regional program.

OHIO'S NEWEST STAY SAFE OHIO ORDER: WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR EMPLOYERS?

Published on May 05, 2024 by Bob Dunlevey and Nadia A. Lampton - Taft/Law

On April 30, 2020, Ohio implemented yet another statewide order affecting all residents and businesses, regardless of whether the business has been deemed essential or non-essential in the past. The most recent Order of the State of Ohio Department of Health – Director’s Stay Safe Ohio Order – was signed on April 30, 2020, and will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on May 29, 2020. The new Order can be accessed here.

While many Ohioans anticipated a new order related to the shutdown of businesses and the reopening of certain industries, the breadth and rigidness of the new Order came as a surprise to many. With respect to business operations, the critical provisions of the Order are found at Paragraph 8 (Facial Coverings), Paragraph 15 (Travel), Paragraph 16 (Social Distancing Requirements) and Paragraph 21 (Sector Specific COVID-19 Information and Checklist for Businesses/Employers). Here is what businesses need to know about the new mandates on employers:
